Harnessing the Data Revolution (HDR) is one of NSF's six Big Ideas for research, with the vision of enabling new modes of data-driven discovery to allow researchers to ask and answer new questions in frontier science and engineering; generating new knowledge and understanding; and, accelerating discovery and innovation. HDR seeks to realize this vision by supporting fundamental research in data science and engineering; developing a cohesive, federated approach to the research data infrastructure needed to power this revolution; and developing a 21st-century data-capable workforce. In this talk, we will describe the various components of HDR and the multidisciplinary collaborations that are needed for this vision to succeed.
