Join Us This Week! ODEI Listening Sessions about the Experiences of Women at NCAR|UCAR

We are excited about the progress the organization is making on issues identified in the 2017 Culture Survey, thanks in large part to the hard work of all staff and the individual labs, programs, and other units. However, there are some persistent concerns we hear from employees that we would like to learn more about with the goal of creating an environment where everyone is encouraged, supported, and respected throughout their careers.

The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ODEI) is launching listening sessions to address these issues, beginning with the experience and concerns of women at NCAR and UCAR. The listening sessions will provide a time and space to hear from women at the institution. Allies are also welcome, but we ask that the voices of women in the room are given priority. This time will be used however the group decides, but we are hoping to create dialogue, offer support, and address/identify any opportunities we, as an organization, can take to continue to promote gender equity, inclusion, and diversity.

We have heard that there are some experiences that are pertinent to all female-identified staff, while some specifically affect women scientists at NCAR and UCAR, so we plan to hold tailored sessions. All are welcome to both sessions, but one set will focus specifically on experiences within the science job families. We have time reserved in the following locations:
