Professional Experience:
- June 2000 - Present: Associate Scientist, NCAR – Research Applications Laboratory, Boulder, CO
- Perform comprehensive testing and evaluation on a broad range of weather regimes in order to assess the overall skill of numerous numerical weather prediction (NWP) techniques; Present research findings at appropriate scientific workshops and conferences
- Help facilitate the transition of promising new NWP techniques from the research community into an operational setting by performing extensive testing and evaluation and providing meaningful results to operational centers
- Provide community support through a variety of mediums for the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, and accompanying pre- and post-processors
- January 1999 – May 2000: Student Forecaster, Meridian Environmental Technology, Inc., Grand Forks, ND
- Generated weather and road condition forecasts for four states in the Upper-Midwest, which were distributed to the public and maintenance workers for decision support
- January 1999 – May 2000: Student Teaching Assistant, University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND
- Taught the laboratory section of an introductory meteorology class, which involved lecturing on the current lab topic, running the lab and developing and grading weekly quizzes for ~ 20 students per semester
