Mr. Scott Swerdlin is Director of the National Security Applications Program (NSAP) for NSF NCAR's Research Applications Laboratory. NSAP staff are engaged in actionable science dedicated to national security. We conduct Research and Development and technology transfer to enhance our homeland and military posture against weather- and climate-related threats, delivering solutions directly to end-users. We receive funding from the Department of Defense, other federal and state agencies, private industry, and foreign sponsors
Mr. Swerdlin manages a group of over 30 scientists and engineers, solving problems in diverse areas of science and technology. He also manages several commercial and international programs that have elements of numerical weather prediction, data assimilation, reanalyses and downscaling, and numerous coupled applications such as transport and dispersion, radio frequency propagation, storm surges, and hurricane intensification.
