My primary responsibility as an Associate Scientist in the Data Assimilation Research Section (DAReS) of IMAGe at the National Center for Atmospheric Research is to maintain the software interface between the Data Assimilation Research Testbed and NCAR's Community Atmosphere Model (CAM) and its variations (WACCM, CAM-Chem,...).  This interface is also part of the interface of DART to the whole Community Earth System Model. The documentation of of the interface is mostly in the html file  and fortran module, which can be downloaded from the  DART home page.  The goal is to facilitate the incorporation of data assimilation using CAM into research by the university and government research communities and NCAR researchers.

My second responsibility (the even more enjoyable one) is to directly help collaborators use CESM+DART in their research.  This ranges from simple tasks like pointing to useful data sets and answering questions about setting up assimilations, to evaluating the results of experiments and reviewing the resulting papers before submission for publication.

Previous work involved the development and use, with Ron Errico (NASA-GMAO), of the Mesoscale Adjoint Modeling System (MAMS) for research into fundamental issues of adjoints of complex models used in variational data assimilation.
